Marvel Heroes Strategy Guide

The Unofficial Marvel Heroes Strategy Guide

Today, I’ll be reviewing a recent purchase I made at KillerGuides.com focusing on Gazillion Entertainment’s ARPG, Marvel Heroes. The guide, being a strategy guide aims to boost players to the level cap under 7 days which is the manual’s selling point. Sure, it sounded too good to be true and quite frankly, an extremely bold claim. Tossing aside my skepticism, I bit the bullet and bought the Marvel Heroes Strategy Guide to test out whether or not the methods proposed in the guide in fact, work.

The price of the manual is $19.99 USD and can be downloaded at the website’s members area once purchased. By opening the guide, the PDF is a beautifully illustrated cover page and the remaining pages were colored also. Very professional looking even for an unofficial guide. The table of contents is laid out in a professional manner introducing the game, the heroes soon followed by in-depth leveling sections. How in-depth are the chapters? Let’s take a closer look.

I’ve always been pretty innovative when it comes to developing leveling tactics. Surprisingly my tactics didn’t apply specifically to this game. Feeling outdated, I wanted to learn, no, to expose myself to ‘proven’ and ‘trusted’ methodologies that worked in this here manual. Cutting through the leveling section through step by step instructions, I was given insight to these leveling guidelines the author suggested. The author directed me to one such leveling method that consisted of my hero to head over to an undisclosed location which I missed out on my first time. I wasn’t even remotely aware of the location. Behind these secret doors, I was greeted with heaps of blue glowing mobs that drop high quality loot, included the necessary particles necessary for crafting.

In less than five minutes, my EXP and Credit income doubled. I have to credit the author with pointing out locations for easy EXPs. The great thing about this was that I was exposed to a myriad of leveling techniques which seemed quite inefficient but in actuality, worked wonders. Instead of giving me the name of the mission I was required to achieve, the author instructed me how to achieve it: I was given a precise location of the mission followed by the types of mobs that would be encountered, including a rundown list of skills that work effectively against mobs or a posing boss. Word for word, I tested out each of the methods and as a result, I easily gained multiple levels in an hour. Who would have though simple methods yielded so much? I stand corrected in thinking these methods were these methods were just over-hyped. They worked.

What I truly appreciated in the leveling section is the analytical overview of the objectives involved as well as how to complete them quicker (provided I use the recommended rotations). What’s great about these recommendations is that the author levels with you explaining the methods step by step and noting down their benefits gained. This alone demonstrated the highest quality of professionalism displayed in an unofficial book that I’ve come across.

Marvel Heroes Heroes

Other well-written sections I’ve encountered were chapters focusing on talents and rotations. Initially I was hesitant on using the rotations since I didn’t think I needed them. How wrong I was. Jotting out several builds, I experimented with them. At first I thought the rotations were too basic to make an impact but after using several rotations on a boss (which got on my nerves), I dropped in several critical shots while dodging. It’s hard to describe it word for word when my hero was doing surprisingly well by himself. Without the rotations or the fact of slotting appropriate points to my talent, I believed I would be performing this fight over four times, if not, more. The fact that I conquered this boss in one fight showed me the author knew exactly what the was talking about suggesting to me his preferred rotations.

Although I appreciated the intense information given, I’m a person who enjoys guides with images. Maps especially was something that I was hoping to reference in the chapter but unfortunately, lacked. I particularly didn’t agree on everything the book recommended due to some instances, the provided instructions failed to work for me. Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I’m not doing it right. But what I do know for methods that do work, worked marvels, pun intended.

This is a guide I highly recommend picking up. Why? The amount of knowledge I gained by reading the chapters alone helped me efficiently (and effectively) plan out my heroes one step at a time. I praise the author for showcasing his wealth of knowledge which can be put to practical use without wasting time dying, mindlessly grinding, that sort of thing. The lack of fluff is indeed a plus point in the guide but the crowning achievement is the extremely detailed leveling section. I came looking for a guide that provides innovative leveling strategies that boosts my hero to the level cap in just 7 days. The book did just that.

In conclusion, hands down this is simply a really great guide to have. Offering expert advice to avoid newbie mistakes, to a deep analytical breakdown how to level up, this book has it all. In fact, I’m thrilled by this purchase I upgraded myself to purchasing the Marvel Heroes bundle featuring a 26 cut-throat heroes’ analysis book and item and crafting guide.

I’ve come across this excellent Marvel Heroes guide from Killer Guides (here’s our review of the guide) detailing how to effectively level up the Scarlet Witch. The leveling chapter breaks down step by step instruction the types of rotations that are available plus, an in-depth analysis how to construct a solid tree, balancing active and passive abilities. Quite frankly, this is one of the most well written guides I’ve come across that helped me level up the Scarlet Witch to the level cap within days.

Scarlet Witch
Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch is a well-known character in the Marvel Universe. She and her brother Pietro, also known as Quicksilver, are the children of the infamous Magneto. The Scarlet Witch is imbued with the power of a demon trapped in Wundagore Mountain, this results in her almost magical powers and sorcerer-like abilities. In the game Marvel Heroes, Scarlet Witch is one of the many playable characters. People who are fans of her will see that the Scarlet Witch is in her standard red outfit and has recognizable actions. Her reality-altering powers and her hex bolts make her a strong offensive choice, but her health and defenses are one of the lowest in the game, making her easier to play when there is another person with her.

Scarlet Witch is a ranged character who has many skills that deal mental damage to her enemies. All of her statistics (Durability, Strength, Fighting Skills, Speed, Energy, and Intelligence) are fairly low, with Energy being her highest stat like Jean Grey. When the player fist purchases Scarlet, who costs 600 credits, she automatically has two abilities, Hex Bolt and Hex Orb. Hex Bolt is a basic blast attack that can be used once every two seconds. This attack deals 30-45 mental damage at its first rank and when this ability is upgraded so is its damage. Her second standard ability, Hex Orb, requires 16 spirit to use, and does 28-42 damage. Hex Orb can also stun enemies which it hits for 1.5 seconds. When upgrading this ability increases in damage.

Jean Grey is a powerful character if you can master her ranged and Phoenix form quickly. One of the things I encountered with her is struggling to maintain her health above average without being overwhelmed by mobs. Thus, I used the guide from http://www.killerguides.com/ (here’s our review of the guide) that specializes in Jean Grey. The chapter lists out step by step how to level up Jean Grey and how to specialize in her abilities in both normal and Phoenix form. In addition, I was instructed how to get Jean’s best equipment early on in the game. Hands down, this is a one of a kind guide is a guide that keeps on giving!

Jean Grey

Jean Grey is one of the original X-Men, and part of Professor Charles Xavier’s first class of gifted youngsters. Jean is one of the most powerful mutant telepaths on Earth, rivaled only by Emma Frost, the infamous White Queen, and Professor Xavier himself. During her adventures with the X-Men, Jean also became the host for a powerful, intergalactic entity known as the Phoenix. Powerful enough to sweep the strongest heroes of earth aside with a thought, Jean sacrificed a great deal of herself to control the Phoenix. Though it is often not in evidence, it has manifested over the years when Jean most needs to use her full potential to deal with a threat.

Jean Grey is an energy based heroine, and a great deal of her powers are going to focus on her psychic abilities. Her three skill trees focus on Telekinesis (offensive abilities such as her Telekinetic Bolt), Telepathy (enemy mind control and debuffing abilities such as Psychic Lethargy and at later levels abilities like Mind Crush), and the Phoenix (with abilities like Phoenix Transformation, Phoenix Rebirth, and all of the other powers associated with Jean’s alternate form and persona). All of these skills can work together to help Jean become a serious force all on her own, or they can be tailored to fit a particular group of style of play for every character.

Below is only a preliminary information provided in KillerGuides Marvel Heroes guide. A full advanced strategy book could be found here. It is by far the most complete heroes guide that I could find at the moment.

Luke Cage

marvel heroes luke cage

Carl Lucas was just one more gang member in Harlem, New York, but everything changed when he went to jail for a crime he didn’t commit. A volunteer for an experimental treatment, Lucas gained super strength and nearly impenetrable skin. Using his newfound powers he broke out of prison and returned to his old haunts to find the men responsible for the crime he’d been put away for. Taking the name Luke Cage, he became a meta-human mercenary, a hero for hire. Eventually cleared of all charges associated with the crime he’d committed, Luke Cage went on to become a member of various superhero teams including the Thunderbolts.

Cage is an up close and personal kind of character, and his skills reflect this. Cage’s skill trees focus on his melee attacks, his superhuman toughness and his team support abilities. These skills make Cage very similar in theme to other Marvel Heroes character like Colossus and the Thing. While capable of acting on his own as a bruiser, Cage is best used as a member of a team whenever possible, especially team up with Nova. Then again, that can be said of practically every hero running around the crime-addled streets of the Marvel Heroes MMO universe.

Wolverine

Wolverine is perhaps one of Marvel Comics’ most popular characters, spinning out into his own series and guest starring in several others. A mutant whose full name is James Logan Howlett, the young man had to run away from home to the Canadian frontier where he made a life in a mining camp. Growing tough, unaware of his mutant healing factor, Wolverine earned his name with his work ethic. Wolverine joined the Canadian army and fought in the second World War, and later on he volunteered for a secret, experimental Cold War project called Weapon X. There his entire skeleton was bonded with the strange, nearly indestructible metal called Adamantium. Dealing with bouts of uncontrollable fury, lost memories and the life of a lone warrior, Wolverine is still the underdog more often than not.

Unlike Luke Cage gameplay, Wolverine skill focused on close quater combat. The first skill tree that Wolverine has access to are Claws. This tree covers all of his claw attacks, from Quick Slash and Brutal Slash to more powerful strikes that can cut enemies to ribbons with a wave of his arm. The second skill tree is Ferocity, which covers abilities like Adrenaline Rush, which gives Wolverine a quick juice to his abilities, Furious Lunge, which lets him cover distances in a rush, and other, similar powers. These skills work in tandem with Claw abilities to provide a fast-paced melee assault. The third tree, Weapon X, is made up of mostly passive powers such as Healing Factor and Smell Weakness. The former power allows Wolverine to regenerate health at alarming rates, the latter takes down the defense of his enemies and makes them easier to hurt. These skills are some of the most useful in the game, especially for a character as straight up and simple to play as Wolverine is.
